Keeping the glass and vinyl clean and well maintained is easy. It is also an essential part to keeping the appearance and life of the windows and doors.
Here are some tips to keeping your windows and doors working good and looking great.
Vinyl & Glass Maintenance
Although vinyl products are close to being maintenance free, they may become dirty as any other item exposed to the elements. If normal rain does not clean them, use the following instructions that were developed during a study conducted by the Vinyl Window and Door Institute:
Products to clean Vinyl:- Fantastic
- Solution of 70% water and 30% vinegar
- Windex
- Murphy Oil Soap
These cleaners can help to remove stains, from the vinyl such as mold, mildew, lithium grease, bubble gum, felt tipped pen, lipstick, top soil, and rust.
Products to clean Glass:- Sprayway (can be found at any local hardware store)
- Solution of 70% water and 30% vinegar
- Zap (works well on hard water spots)
- CRL (works well on hard water spots)
Avoid using a high-pressure power washer to clean windows and/or doors. This can cause the caulking around your windows to wash away.
Never use cleaners that contain aggressive organic solvents because they could affect the surface appearance of the vinyl. Examples of these are chlorine bleach, liquid grease remover, nail polish remover, and furniture polish/cleaner.
